Bachelor of Design
What is it?
The course are available in degree program as well as short duration certification courses as well. Degree program is 4 years undergraduate program however duration of certification ranges from 1 year to 2 years.
- Student should be XII passed from recognized board in any stream
- Minimum qualifying % for degree program in Class XII is 50%. However, few colleges asks for 55% to 60% as well
- Admission to the colleges are based on entrance examination based on Analytical skill, General English & Designing Aptitude
- Few colleges take personal interview also after shortlisted candidates
Design courses after 12th Science/Commerce/Arts
1 Bachelor of Design (Fashion Design)
The intent of the course is to develop the knowledge in students with respect to prevailing standards of fashion across the globe and development of new fashion trend. The course is all about imparting creativity and out of the box thinking to take the industry to the new level and introduce the new fashion standard.
After completing the course, you can become designer & start working under experts, that will give you more creativity and development of concepts etc. Later on, after gaining significant experience, you can become the fashion designer or work as a self-employed professional & develop your own designs. The sky is the limit, if you are creative!
2 Bachelor of Design (Leather Design)
In this program, you can learn about various aspects of variety of leather, leather processing, products, how to work upon it, market segments etc. You can see lot of accessories like footwear, purse, hand bags etc. which are made up of leather around you hence the scope is not going to reduce the near future!
Again, you need to be creative while developing designs to thrive in the industry!
3 Bachelor of Design (Textile Design)
Textile Design program is a 4 years long course which imparts the in depth knowledge of textile manufacturing, raw material, production techniques and processes, machinery used etc.
Textile designers will find jobs into textile companies but one can become a freelancer in textile design, become a consultant etc.
4 Bachelor of Design (Accessory Design)
Accessories are the important part of style now a days! The demand of accessories like jewellery, lifestyle goods, footwear, leather goods, watches etc. has given the big boom to the accessory manufacturing industries and the same has resulted into the requirement of Accessory designers.
This program trains students to become professionals in the field of knitwear manufacturing, merchandising, understand the market trends, export etc. On completion, Knitwear manufacturing companies are the prime recruiters.
5 Bachelor Degree in Retail and Fashion Merchandise
The course primarily intended to pay attention to the merchandising side of the fashion industry. It imparts the knowledge of management skills and fashion skills in students.
6 Footwear design and production
Footwear designing and manufacturing are the integral part of fashion industry.
The course imparts the knowledge related to the technology of manufacturing footwear. One may easily land a decent job or start their own business.
